There are two new modules for Raspberry Pi or PI-CPUF407. One is the PI-CAN module with CAN FD interface with speeds up to 8 Mbit/s and the other is the PI-RSX combination module with optional RS-232, RS-485 or RS-422 interfaces. These are stackable HAT+ modules with integrated EEPROM for module detection and both with LED activity indication.

Both modules have two connectors, one is a standard 9-pin DSUB and the other is a four-pin disconnectable terminal block with 3.5 mm pitch. Of course, both modules have galvanic isolation and increased ESD protection.

The PI-CAN module contains a CAN FD controller MCP2518FD with MCP2544FD interface. The maximum speed is 1 Mbit/s in standard CAN 2.0 mode or 8 Mbit/s in CAN FD mode. There is also an optional bus termination on the board. It is connected via an SPI interface to the parent system (Raspberry Pi), the drivers are in the Raspberry Pi OS as standard. More information about the module can be found here.

The PI-RSX module includes the SP330E multiprotocol transceiver, which supports RS-232, half duplex RS-485 and full duplex RS-422 modes. The mode is set using standard jumpers, and bus termination can also be enabled. It uses standard UART interface of the parent system. More information about the module can be found here.

Both modules can be stacked with other stackable modules. Optionally, the modules can be supplied with optional connectors or with more extensive modifications. Contact us for more information.
